Facebook

A lot of people have been telling me lately that I just had to sign up for Facebook.  And so I did.  It's actually pretty fun, dare I say cool.  I haven't figured it all out yet but it seems like everything that is good and pure about MySpace, but without all the naked pictures and selling of things.  And then some.  Carlie signed up, too.

Go, be our friends...

And in completely unrelated news, I'm sorry but have you seen this? Really, you must.

The Weatha

Very, very humid in NY today...walked outside this morning and felt a great affinity with The Return of The Swamp Thing, or rather just The Swamp Thing but what I thought was The Return of The Swamp Thing.

Even though it's said that everyone leaves New York in late August, Central Park was still filled with dogs this morning, and there's this new area near the Great Lawn that has recently been unfenced, attracting lots of new dogs.  Carlie was very happy to see her friend Wally the Shar-pei (who makes an appearance in my essay in the upcoming Howl: A Collection of the Best Contemporary Dog Wit) though I do think Wally was a bit more intrigued with an Akita named Marley than he was with Carlie.  Oh, Marley.

I started reading Jen Lancaster's Bright Lights, Big Ass, and can. not. stop. laughing.  So funny.  Go get.

Big day ahead.  On schedule:  finish partially abandoned laundry project.  Get to gym, like in the next half hour, to do thirty minutes on the Arc Trainer thing and then ten minutes of running as part of New Exercise Regime / Attempting to be a Runner Project without throwing out my back really badly, as is my way.  Then I'm meeting my friend Sarah and we're going to look at fall clothes and also visit the Lulu Lemon store, because we both have great love for the lulu.  Then going to see The Nanny Diaries.  And I should write, though maybe I'll save that all for the morrow...

Reasons I have not blogged, 1-7:

1. Good golly, I am so tired.  Like, in a coma tired.

2. I've been really busy checking my Amazon ranking.

3. I'm kinda pretty into the new book I just started reading called Three Bags Full.  It's a sheep detective story, really, and it was hand-sold to me by a nice bookseller named Nora at the 86th/Lexington  Barnes & Noble.  I think it's the first time I've gotten a hand sell in a B&N.  Well done.

4. My deadline is approaching, rearing its ugly head, and I have SO MUCH WRITING to do, and I'm starting to freak out just a little bit.

5. I have begun a new exercise regime involving new things like cardio, the arc trainer machine, and lifting weights.  For someone now on the back end of a few years of only practicing yoga, this is all quite shocking to the system.  And tiring (see reason 1)  Note to self:  in future, perhaps refrain from embarking on new exercise regime in midst of overwhelming release / deadline combo.

6. I'm just so excited to see Superbad I can think of nothing else.

7. I've been spending a lot of time listening to my new favorite song.

Alright then.  Have a great weekend...I hear it's going to be a nice one in New York.
